By default, Secure Boot is enabled, so press F5 to disable it. Scroll down to Secure Boot (it’s under the UEFI Boot Options). Press ENTER/Return when Boot Options is selected. Note that when at the computer’s boot menu, you don’t have to press the Fn key before pressing any of the function keys.Īt the UEFI setup screen, use the right-arrow key to navigate to System Configuration, then use the down-arrow key to navigate to Boot Options. So when at the boot menu, the relevant entry is F10 Bios Setup, which means you need to press the F10 key to access the UEFI setup utility.

The entries on that menu and the F-keys to press to access each, are: On an HP 250 G5 laptop, that’s easier if you first bring up the boot menu by pressing the ESC key (several times) as the unit boots up. To disable Secure Boot, you first need to access the UEFI (BIOS) setup utility. This article details the steps involved in that simple operation. To accomplish the objective of dual-booting Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon and Windows 10 on the machines, I had to first disable Secure Boot (or more accurately, Restricted Boot). Those HP models are not top of the line, but with Intel Core i3 processors and 8 GB of RAM, they are not shabby computing machines. I'll stay with the watermark on the desktop screen.Last week I bought two HP 250 G5 laptops as a gift for a couple of family members, then proceeded to install Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon alongside Windows 10 on each. I sold it :smileysad: So now I'm stuck like this, I'm considering rebuying that same Radeon card just to fix it. Except now I don't have that Radeon card anymore. I'm stuck like this, when it first happened I used the Radeon card to change the setting back and then put the GTX 660 card in my computer. So now I wanna change it back to legacy enabled, but I can't get into that boot screen anymore. Basically it bypasses any kind of boot up before windows and eventually goes into Windows 8. So now my computer beeps like 4 times and won't show the startup screen when it starts up, but it does boot into windows when my sign in appears. So I went into the boot up (F10) and enabled boot but doing so made me disable legacy. It put a watermark on the right corner saying I had to enable a secureboot. Everything was great for months until I installed Windows 8.1 today. I was able to fix it while the Radeon was installed on my computer. Originally I bought a GTX 660 card and had that Legacy boot issue. I have an HP ENVY h8-1427 It came with an Eyefinity Radeon HD 7570. But, my current system does not support secure boot. I always though the card had to be UEFI compatible for you can use secure boot. I am guessing its a bios adjustment that was needed regarding key management in OP with picture. I don't want to run into the following problem? I will be dealing with a brand new custom build HP that my sister is getting.
